I have been in the model airplane hobby since 1968 .. and I enjoy learning and sharing what I know about the hobby.
I also like to shop for special bargains and search for super deals on model airplane stuff… so take a look at this page to see my latest finds!
This neat little camera drone is simple, cheap, lightweight, stable, complete RTF and flies as a drone and with the push of a button, flies as a plane. Push button to take off and push again to land. Charges via USB micro plug (fairly standard cell phone charger). Transmitter last for about 6 hrs. Drone battery charges on about 20-30min. Available at many places but Amazon shows both black and white versions for between $60 and $90 shipped. The easiest to fly, non GPS drone I’ve ever played with.
Cons: only light wind outdoors, no gps, up to 5 min flight time, low quality pictures.
Here is another favorite deal right now. Originally $299 now $100 at weekender warehouse This is a complete, RTF. It includes the racing drone, camera, transmitter, video monitor screen, 3s 2200mah lipo, spare props, ….. YES Ready To Fly! Come see mine for a demo if you like.
cons: no GPS, frame is Hitec proprietary, not for pro racing.
NEXT: Batteries for the e-hawkeye were purchased from http://www.HEADSUPHobby.com they are a nice thin 2s 500ma 35c. Mine’s setup in front of my AR6100e Spektrum RX and left of the ESC. Fits great with a little foam removal off the cover button hold down. Heads-up has regular std shipping at $2.50 for most small orders. I purchased some extras.
I also found replacement props for the e-hawkeye at http://www.hobbyking.com this one of 3 that they advertise. You do have to remove the spinner, press out the pins and replace the blades but that’s still better than replacing the motor because it has the prop-holder as part of the motor. I have a few extra of these too.
THESE HITEC RECEIVER READY PLANES ARE STILL AVAILABLE AS OF 01/19/2018
Here’s a 3 channel (no ailerons) receiver ready ehawkeye shipped to your door for $25… you will need to supply your own small receiver, and a 2S 450ma-500ma Lipo (and own a charger for that battery). weekender warehouse.com has several deals to see. I have helped with group purchases too.
